Signalist keeps every person you work with in one place, across all your lists, and makes sure people who must not be contacted never are. This article covers where your contacts live, how the blacklist and competitor list work, and how Signalist avoids contacting the same person twice.
In the sidebar:
Select rows in Contacts to use the bar at the bottom: Add to (a list, your CRM, or the tracker), Enrich (Search for Email (1 credit), Search for Phone (10 credits)), Add to Blacklist, and Export. See Filter contacts, choose columns, and export.

A blacklist entry stops Signalist from contacting a person, or everyone at a company:
The Blacklist page lists the newest entries first. Its search finds a person by name or email, and a company by its name or website.
When you blacklist a lead, you can also blacklist their company. The switch names the company, for example "Also blacklist Acme GmbH (acme.com)". This is the company the lead works at now, which is not always the company your list was built for. For several leads, the switch says how many companies it blocks. If no company is known for a lead, the switch is off and says so. If you chose Select → All in a list, the switch reads Also blacklist the companies of the selected leads and blocks the company each of those leads works at now.
The Blacklist page shows where each entry came from under Origin: "Unsubscribed by lead", "Blacklisted by user", "Imported by user", or "Competitor".
Select people on the Blacklist page and choose Remove from Blacklist. Tick Also remove organization from blacklist to lift a company-wide block as well.
A lead who unsubscribed always stays on the blacklist. Their row shows Unsubscribed instead of a remove option, and if you select them together with others, Signalist removes the others and names the people it kept.
Snooze hides a person until a date you choose; Unsnooze ends it early.
Sometimes you do want to reach someone who is on the blacklist, for example a person your team blocked by mistake. When you add blacklisted leads to a campaign, write to one, or take leads out of a list's Blacklist bucket, Signalist asks first. The window lists:
If a lead is blocked because their whole company is on your blacklist, tick Also remove … from the blacklist to contact them. This unblocks everyone at that company. If the company is a competitor, it stays marked as a competitor for everyone else, and only the person you chose is let through.
After you confirm, Signalist tells you which leads stayed on the blacklist.
Signalist recognises competitors from the Competitor description in your Lead Scoring settings. When a lead's company matches it, the lead is moved to the Blacklist bucket with the reason "Competitor", and the company is added to your competitor list. The Dashboard tells you when new competitors were found, with a Review them button.
On the Competitors page:
Signalist keeps one record per person, so the same person on two lists is still one contact with one history. There is no need to merge records by hand.
A list sorts its leads into four buckets, which you choose with the Show filter: Found, Unsure, Not found, and Blacklist. Each bucket expands into the reasons behind it, for example "Job title excluded", "No contact details found", "Excluded manually", "Competitor", or "Unsubscribed". Found also shows "Included by a user" for leads someone took off the blacklist. The Exclusion Reason column shows the reason for each lead.
To move leads yourself, select them and use Status: Exclude from list moves them to Unsure and out of campaigns; To Found brings them back. With Select → All, a move covers every lead that matches the list's current search, filters, and tab, including leads on other pages. For blacklisted leads, Signalist asks first, as described above.
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A lead was not contacted | Check whether they, or their company, are on the Blacklist or the Competitors page. |
| A whole company disappeared from a list | An organization entry or a competitor match blocks everyone at that company. Check the Blacklist and Competitors pages. |
| A lead cannot be taken off the blacklist | The lead unsubscribed, or is blocked by a Signalist-wide entry. Both stay on the blacklist. |
| The wrong company was blacklisted | The company switch blocks the company the lead works at now. Check the name in the switch before you confirm, and remove the company entry on the Blacklist page if needed. |
| A company was wrongly flagged as a competitor | Open Competitors and choose Not a competitor, and sharpen the Competitor description in Lead Scoring. |
| A list has fewer leads than expected | Only add new leads may be switched on, so people already on other lists were not added. |
| A CSV upload skipped rows | The summary shows imported, duplicate, and skipped rows. Check the column names against Download Example CSV. |
Archive a list you no longer work with. An archived list keeps its leads, but it does not run and it is hidden from your list overview. Unarchive it when you want to work with it again.
Columns add your own information to a list's lead table: a note, a number, a link, a checkbox, a random value, or an enrichment such as AI Prompt or Deep Research . When you create a Text or enrichment column, you also choose which leads it is filled for.
Choose your list source by starting with what you already have and what you want the list to do next. If you begin with the source name alone, it is easy to pick something too broad, too narrow, or not available in your workspace.
