Signalist credits are spent when the system performs value-adding work for you, such as enriching data, running tracking or research, and generating AI content; the exact usage depends on the action, your workspace setup, and the number of records or drafts processed.

In short: Reviewing existing information usually does not spend credits. Credits are used when Signalist creates, enriches, monitors, researches, or generates something on your behalf.

Which actions spend credits?

Credits are spent by actions that require Signalist to process data, research leads or companies, monitor signals, or generate AI output. The most common credit-consuming workflows are enrichment, profile or company tracking, deep research, AI snippets, and AI copy generation.

Typical credit-consuming actions include:

  • enriching leads, people, companies, or accounts
  • running deep research on a person, company, lead, or account
  • tracking profiles, companies, accounts, or signal sources
  • generating AI message drafts or other AI copy
  • using AI snippets that require research, knowledge-base context, or generation
  • processing large lists where Signalist has to create or update data for many records

Some workspaces show credit estimates, plan limits, or confirmation steps before larger actions. Use those in-product estimates as the source of truth before running a bulk action.

When does reviewing information not spend credits?

Reviewing existing information usually does not spend credits. Opening a list, checking a lead, filtering records, reviewing campaign progress, or editing an already-generated draft is normally part of everyday workspace use rather than a new credit-consuming action.

Actions that usually do not spend credits include:

  • opening existing lead, company, contact, or campaign records
  • filtering, sorting, or reviewing an existing list
  • checking replies, analytics, or campaign progress
  • editing campaign settings manually
  • assigning already-enriched leads to a campaign
  • manually editing AI copy after it has already been generated

Note: A workflow can include both free and credit-consuming steps. For example, reviewing a list is usually free, but enriching the selected records or generating AI drafts from that list can spend credits.

How do enrichment credits work?

Enrichment spends credits when Signalist adds, verifies, or updates data for leads, people, companies, or accounts. Usage usually scales with the number of records processed and the type of enrichment requested.

For example, enriching a small test list uses fewer credits than enriching a large imported list. Enrichment may include person details, company details, job titles, contact information, LinkedIn-related data, or other fields available in your workspace.

Before enriching at scale: Check the selected record count, remove duplicates, confirm the enrichment type, and start with a smaller test if you are unsure about the result quality or credit impact.

How do tracking credits work?

Tracking spends credits when Signalist monitors people, companies, accounts, or signal sources for relevant updates. The credit impact depends on what is being tracked, how many entities are monitored, which signal types are active, and how your plan defines tracking usage.

Tracking can include profile updates, company updates, LinkedIn engagement, job changes, hiring signals, news events, funding, M&A, and other signal types. Because tracking is often ongoing, the total usage can grow with the number of monitored profiles, companies, accounts, or rules.

Use tracking for targets where timely updates can create meaningful outreach opportunities. Avoid monitoring broad audiences without a clear review and follow-up process.

How do deep research credits work?

Deep research spends credits when Signalist performs additional analysis on a person, company, lead, or account. It can combine online sources, company context, person context, knowledge-base information, and AI analysis to create richer research for qualification or outreach.

Deep research is more involved than simply opening an existing record. It is useful when you need stronger context for scoring, prioritisation, personalisation, or message drafting, but it should be used intentionally on records that are worth the extra research effort.

Best practice: Use scoring, filters, and human review to narrow a list before running deep research across many records.

How do AI generation credits work?

AI generation spends credits when Signalist creates new copy, snippets, or drafts for you. AI copy generation typically uses one credit per generated draft, so clicking Generate three draft messages creates three drafts and spends three credits.

For profile tracker signals, generated drafts can combine the specific signal found, deep research on the person and company, your Knowledge DB, and your learned tone of voice. This helps the output feel more relevant and on-brand than a generic template.

AI snippets may also spend credits depending on how they are configured. Simple snippets may have a different cost from snippets that use online research, Knowledge DB context, deep research, or more advanced generation.

How do campaign workflows spend credits?

Campaign work spends credits only when the campaign workflow triggers enrichment, research, tracking, or AI generation. Creating a campaign, editing campaign settings, assigning already-enriched leads, or reviewing campaign results does not normally spend credits by itself.

Examples:

  • Assigning existing leads to a campaign: usually no new credit usage
  • Enriching selected leads before sending: credits may be spent per processed record
  • Generating personalised message drafts: credits are spent per generated draft
  • Using AI snippets inside a sequence: credits may be spent depending on the snippet setup
  • Reviewing replies or analytics: usually no new credit usage

Do not treat campaign activation as the only checkpoint. Review the audience, sender, channel, copy, limits, enrichment choices, and AI generation steps before approving a campaign workflow.

How can you estimate credit usage before starting?

You can estimate credit usage by checking how many items the action will process and what type of work Signalist will perform. Bulk enrichment scales with the number of records, AI generation scales with the number of outputs, and tracking can scale with monitored entities or active signal types.

Before you start a larger action, check:

  • how many leads, people, companies, accounts, or profiles are selected
  • whether the action only reviews existing data or creates new data
  • which enrichment types, research steps, or signal types are included
  • how many AI drafts or snippets will be generated
  • whether the action is a one-time task or an ongoing tracking workflow
  • whether your workspace shows a credit estimate or plan-specific limit

If the expected usage looks high, reduce the selection, test the workflow on a small sample, or prioritise only the best-fit records.

What happens if you run out of credits?

If your workspace runs out of credits or reaches a plan limit, credit-consuming actions may stop, be blocked, or require a top-up, plan change, or admin approval before they can continue. Existing information usually remains available, but new enrichment, research, tracking, or AI generation may be limited.

If this happens, reduce the action size, prioritise the highest-value records, pause low-priority tracking, or contact your Signalist admin or customer contact to review your allowance.

Quick summary

  • Credits are spent when Signalist enriches, tracks, researches, or generates content.
  • Reviewing existing data, filtering lists, editing settings, or checking analytics usually does not spend credits.
  • Enrichment usage usually scales with the number of processed records.
  • Tracking usage depends on monitored people, companies, accounts, and signal types.
  • AI copy generation typically spends one credit per generated draft.
  • Large bulk actions should be tested on a smaller selection before running at scale.
FAQ

Do I spend credits when I open or review a lead list? No. Opening, filtering, sorting, or reviewing existing data usually does not spend credits.

Do I spend credits when I enrich a lead list? Yes. Enrichment usually spends credits based on the number of records processed and the enrichment type selected.

How many credits are used when I generate three AI drafts? Generating three AI drafts typically spends three credits, because AI copy generation uses one credit per generated draft.

Does editing an AI draft spend another credit? No. Manually editing an already-generated draft usually does not spend another credit.

Does creating a campaign spend credits? Creating or editing a campaign does not normally spend credits by itself. Credits may be spent if the campaign workflow triggers enrichment, research, tracking, AI snippets, or AI copy generation.

Why did a bulk action spend many credits? Bulk actions can spend many credits because Signalist processes many records or outputs at once. Check the selected record count, enrichment type, number of AI outputs, and tracking scope before running large actions.

Can failed actions still spend credits? This can depend on the action and workspace configuration. If the product shows a credit estimate or transaction log, use that as the source of truth and contact your Signalist admin if a charge looks unexpected.
