Signalist's AI writes your messages from what it knows about the lead, your company, and your rules. You shape the result in four places: the Copywriting page, your personal copywriting settings, the Templates page, and AI snippets inside a message.
Copywriting in the sidebar sets the rules for your whole company. It has two tabs.
"Configure account-level copywriting defaults used by the AI copywriting agent across all campaigns." Click Save after changes.
When a lead replies, Signalist writes reply drafts for you to review and send from the Inbox. Draft Replies sets how many:
The setting applies to the drafts written automatically when a reply arrives. You can always generate a reply yourself in the Inbox, whichever option you choose. Drafts that were already written stay as they are.
Reply drafts are written in the language the lead replied in. Signalist tells the language from what the lead wrote, not from their closing line, their signature, a legal notice, or the earlier messages quoted below the reply.
Under Message Style → Email Signature, the switch Add the email signature to emails (chat and campaigns) decides whether your emails carry the sending mailbox's signature:
Each mailbox's signature is set under Personal settings → Connected Accounts → Edit email settings. See Add your email signature to emails.

When you add an email, LinkedIn message, InMail or invitation to a campaign, or to one lead's sequence in the Outbox, the new step starts with the delay set here for its step number. You can still change the delay on the step itself afterwards.

"Frameworks define the strategic approach for each step of an outreach sequence." Default frameworks are filled in for you; you can edit or disable them, or click Add Framework to create your own with a Name, Description, Structure, what it is Applicable to (Intro, Follow-up, Breakup), and When to use / When not to use.
By default, campaigns and drafts use Auto-suggest: the AI picks a framework for each signal. You can also choose frameworks yourself with Choose Frameworks when generating drafts.
Under Personal settings → General → Copywriting settings, each sender chooses the languages the AI may write in for them:
Your typical phrasings (openers, closings, calls to action) help the AI sound like you. In a list's campaign settings, the language is Auto by default: it follows the lead, limited to what the sender can write.
Templates in the sidebar has three tabs:
An AI snippet is a placeholder the AI fills in for each lead, for example a line about their company. In a message, open Insert variable or AI Snippets, give the snippet a name (used as {name} in your message), and choose the response type: Best response, or One of these values. Adding a few examples helps. Testing a snippet is free; when the message is sent, it costs 1 credit per lead and list, however many snippets the message contains.
The Unsubscribe Link variable adds an unsubscribe link to an email.
Three variables under Insert variable greet the lead by gender. Signalist uses the gender only when it is at least 90% sure of it. Below that, or when no gender is known, each variable falls back to a greeting that fits either gender:
| Variable | Gender at least 90% sure | Gender less sure or unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Prospect Salutation | Mr. / Ms. | The first name |
| Prospect Salutation (DE) | Herr / Frau | The first name |
| Prospect Formal Name (DE) | Sehr geehrter Herr Müller / Sehr geehrte Frau Müller | Hallo Max Müller ("Hallo Max" without a last name) |
In Review to send or on a lead, Generate 3 draft messages writes a complete sequence for the lead (1 credit per lead; generating again is free). Tell AI what to write adds instructions for this lead. Always read and edit the drafts before sending.
While drafts are being written, Tell AI what to write shows what is happening and for how long:
The status stays when you reload the page or come back to the lead later.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The AI writes in the wrong language | The sender's Primary, Secondary, and Fallback languages, and the list's language setting. |
| Messages use words you don't want | Add them to the Wording Blacklist and suggest Alternative Phrases. |
| Messages are too long | Set Message Limits on the Copywriting page. |
| New steps start with the wrong delay | Check Send Delay Defaults for that step number. It sets only the starting value; change the delay on the step itself in the campaign builder. |
| A snippet gives unusable answers | Narrow the prompt, choose One of these values, or add examples. |
| A lead is greeted by first name in a formal message | Signalist was less than 90% sure of the gender, or knows only the initial of the last name. Set or confirm the gender in the Gender column. |
| No reply drafts appear when a lead replies | Check Draft Replies on the Copywriting page. With None, no drafts are written automatically; you can still generate a reply in the Inbox. |
| Drafts stay on Queued for a while | Many generations are waiting for a slot. The generation starts by itself; you do not need to start it again. |
| Emails go out without your signature | Switch on Email Signature under Message Style, and check that the sending mailbox has a signature under Personal settings → Connected Accounts. |
The Knowledge Base tells the AI what you sell, to whom, and why it matters. Signalist builds a first version for you from your answers and your website. Review it, correct what is wrong, and approve it, because your AI messages and research draw on it.
Write Deep Research prompts around a decision: qualify an account, verify a signal, identify the relevant role, or find a factual conversation angle. A focused prompt produces more useful results than an open ended request to research everything.
Every scored lead gets one grade: P1 , P2 , P3 , DQ , or ? . The grade says how well the lead fits the companies and people you defined under Lead Scoring . It is calculated from points, so you can always trace why a lead got its grade.
